EU Agency for Fundamental Rights Traineeships
Twice a year, the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) offers paid traineeships for periods of three to five months to young graduates. It aims at providing trainees with work experience in the administration of co-operation in the field of fundamental rights at the European level in order to gain an insight into FRA’s objectives and activities, and to put their learning into practice.
The FRA is being built on the former European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC), and it provides assistance and expertise to the EU and its Member States on fundamental rights matters. The aim is to support them to respect fully fundamental rights when they take measures or formulate courses of action.
The aims of the traineeships are:
# to provide an understanding of the objectives and activities of FRA
# to enable trainees to acquire practical experience and knowledge of the day-to-day work of FRA Units and services
# to enable trainees to put into practice knowledge acquired during their studies, or professional careers
Eligibility criteria:
# participants are nationals from EU Member States and candidates benefiting from a pre-accession strategy. A limited number of nationals fom non-EU Member States are accepted, depending on the available resources
# trainees must have completed the first cycle of a higher education course (i.e. university education) and obtained a full degree or its equivalent by the closing date for applications
# candidates must have very good knowledge of at least two Community languages. Candidates from non-EU Member States must have a good knowledge of at least one of the working languages of FRA, preferably English or French
# candidates should not have had any kind of training or employment within an EU institution or body
Trainees are awarded a monthly grant of EUR 1000. Recruited trainees will get travel expenses reimbursed at the beginning and the end of the traineeship. Disabled trainees may receive a supplement to their grant up to their grant equal to a maximum of 50% of the amount of the grant.

# 31 May – for training periods starting 1 October until end of February
