tampere logo University of TampereThe University is located in Tampere, the third biggest city in Finland. There are also activities in smaller towns of Hämeenlinna, Pori, Seinäjoki, Valkeakoski and Virrat. There are six faculties and nine independent institutes. The University of Tampere is the biggest provider of higher education in Finland for social sciences and the accompanying administrative sciences.
Around 14,600 students are currently pursuing degrees at the University of Tampere. Every year approximately one thousand master’s degrees and one hundred doctoral degrees are produced. The personnel number about 2,200. For 2008 the entire budget of the University was in the range of 150 million Euros.

Unfortunately, the University cannot offer financial aid to international students. You must at all times be able to finance your studies and living expenses or have a scholarship from your home university or from other sources outside the University of Tampere. Only under certain bilateral agreements may the University of Tampere grant a scholarship to a student of a partner university.

CIMO awards and administers scholarships for international students, postgraduate students (after Master-level), researchers (postgraduates after Master-level degree or postdoctorates) Scholarships are offered to applicants from all countries. There are several scholarship programmes, each of which has its own eligibility criteria, application procedures, application deadline and application form.
