Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) is a public university located in the capital of Hungary. Despite being the most renowned technological university in Hungary, it is also one of the oldest technological universities in the world.

BME is structurally divided into the following faculties: Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Faculty of Transportation Engineering, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences. There are also a number of centers that operate within different faculties. The Biomechanical Research Center forms part of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The Federated Innovation and Knowledge Center and the Center of Public Administration’s Information Technology are both part of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics. The Faculty of Transportation Engineering integrates the Advanced Vehicle Control Knowledge Center. And, the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences consists of the Center for Modern Languages, the Institute of Continuing Engineering Education and the Center of Physical Education.

How to apply

In order to apply  students need to submit a completed application form, official transcripts of their previous university studies or a secondary school leaving certificate, a curriculum vitae, and letters of recommendation, but for further details please refer to the official website. Erasmus students follow a different application procedure.

International Cooperation

Budapest University of Technology and Economics is a member of many international associations. You can check out the list here. It has also signed a number of bilateral agreements with partner institutions.
