WU is located in Vienna, one of the safest and most beautiful cities in Europe. Vienna is the capital of Austria, and one of Europe’s cultural centers, with a high concentration of cultural attractions. Students will find that there are thousands of things to discover in and around Vienna. The city is home to various international organizations like the UN Atomic Energy Agency, UNIDO and OPEC, and is consistently rated as one of the world’s most livable cities.

In 1990 WU was one of the first universities to join the CEMS network (Community of European Management Schools and International Companies). Since October 2005, WU has been systematically replacing all its first-degree (Magister) programs with Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. With this, WU is adopting the three-cycle system promoted by the Bologna process. In 2007, WU became the first Austrian University to receive the international EQUIS accreditation. EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) is an internationally recognised accreditation system offered by the European Foundation of Management (EFMD).

The university is constantly working to strengthen and improve important contacts with universities and companies in Central and Eastern Europe.

Exchange students from WU partner universities

Each year around 750 students from over 210 partner universities worldwide spend an exchange semester at the WU in Vienna. Exchange students have the opportunity to do a semester at the WU at either the Bachelor or Master level. The International Office (IO) is the central contact point for Incomings in answering all questions concerning their exchange semester at the WU. Internationalization is a main priority, and the university is one of an exclusive group of only 17 members in the prestigious CEMS Program.

Students seeking short-term study options

In addition, WU offers students who are interested in shorter programs at WU further options. In the WU international short programs that offer courses in English, such as the International Summer UniversityWU and the Vienna Spring ProgramWU, students have the chance to participate in a 2 – 3 week academic program in an international environment and intercultural setting. Both of these programs are organized by International Office. All the necessary information regarding the international short programs at the WU can be found here.
