The Open Society Institute’s Network Scholarship Programs announces the Global Supplementary Grant Program (GSGP) for the 2010-2011 academic year. GSGP offers supplementary grants to enable students from select countries of Eastern and Central Europe, the former Soviet Union and Mongolia to pursue doctoral studies in Humanities and Social Sciences at accredited universities in Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle/Near East, and North America.

Eligibility
- only students who have been accepted into a full-time doctoral (Ph.D.) program at an accredited university are eligible to apply;
- the grant is available to citizens of: AlbaniaArmenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia, Croatia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

Global Supplementary Grant
- will provide supplemental funding for one year of study, recipients of GSGP grants will have the option to re-apply for an additional two awards after the first year of the original grant;
- is a supplementary program and is not intended or full funding. Applicants must be able to demonstrate additional support from other sources

Application procedure
Candidates are strongly encouraged to apply online using the Online Application System. In addition to the application form ( Europe application, North America application) following documents are needed:
1. Curriculum Vitae;
2. Copy of official letter of admission from the academic institution;
3. Official undergraduate and graduate school transcripts (new applicants only);
4. Copy of an official letter outlining the details of your scholarship or financial aid award and any other documents confirming additional financial support;
5. Copy of the identification pages of your passport;
6. Copy of your valid student visa for the 2010 – 2011 academic year;
7. Essays;
8. Two current academic reference letters (new applicants only) from professors who have direct knowledge of your work and abilities. Students already enrolled in a Ph.D. program must submit at least one letter from a professor in the department in which you are studying describing your
academic progress over the past year.
