International festival of sound visions: Visions from the Future
The second edition will take place on May 28-29-30 2010 in Torino

Contest Announcement
After the first edition in 2008 about past, present and future imagined in a sci-fi context, this year
Visions from the Future turns bright looks to the earth and the sky inspired by cosmological and cosmogonic visions,
explores the alchemy of our earth, our history, the social evolution,
spirituality and the mysteries surrounding man.

Visions from the Future 2010 calls all the videomakers and audiovisual researchers to create,
shaping image and sound, works that  pass through us to imagine IRIDESCENT WORLDS.
The projections will be held at Cinema Massimo and the live media at Hiroshima Mon Amour.

Categories of the Festival

Video:

  • Short movies: all videos standing in the cinematographic tradition.
  • VideoArt: all art creations realized with video.
  • Computer Art: all computer generated videos, characterized by editing and animation.

Live media:

  • All projects to be performed live through the assemblage Projections and Audio, all livecinema projects.

Participation Policy

  • The works must fall within one of the sections, to be marked on the entry form.
  • The required materials must be sent to the address below.
  • Should the work be in a different language from Italian, Italian or English subtitles must be shown. Should subtitles be missing when required, the participant will automatically be excluded from the competition.

To participate to the Video Contest

  • send the signed entry form in order to enter the contest and to authorize Alfavì to use the work for teaching, cultural and promotional non profit purposes, through the publication on newspapers, magazines, websites and public projections;
  • send one copy of the work in DVD;
  • send a brief biography or an essential filmography of the author/s of the film in Italian or English;
  • send a brief synopsis of the work in Italian or in English;
  • send 1 Data DVD with:
  • work compressed in:. mov or. avi or. mpeg;
  • a gallery of different photo grams or stills of the work in JPEG format (at least 3)
  • send by mail a copy of the Entry Form and gallery to the e-mail address below with the following subject: VDF2010 – Category – name of the author or group – entry form + photo

Warning: the lack of parts, will lead to automatic exclusion from the Competition.

To participate to Live Media contest
The project submitted can be thought for a maximum of three independent video streams

  • send a completed and signed copy of the Entry Form, with authorization for Alfavì to use the work for teaching, cultural and promotional non profit purposes, through the publication on newspapers, magazines, websites and public projections;
  • send a Data DVD with:
  • a demo of the work in:. mov |. avi |. mpeg. (in addition to one or more audio tracks, it is essential to send at least one video track representing the performative visual and sound draft to be projected in the case of selection);
  • a gallery of different photo grams or stills of the work in JPEG format (at least 3)
  • send a brief biography or an essential filmography of the author/s of the film in Italian or English;
  • send a project presentation in Italian or English;
  • send a technical description (not present in the Annex)
  • send by e-mail a copy of the Entry Form and gallery to the e-mail address below with the following subject: VDF2010 – Category – name of the author or group – entry form + photo

Warning: incomplete applications will be automatically excluded from the Competition.

Video awards:
The Panel of Judges will award the best works in the contest the following prizes:

  • Visioni dal Futuro 2010 prize for the best Short Film
  • Visioni dal Futuro 2010 prize for the best Video Art Work
  • Visioni dal Futuro 2010 prize for the best Computer Art Work

The jury may highlight with special mention, other competing works of particular value. LIVE MEDIA awards:

Live Media award:

  • the 2 best Live Media projects, that will be invited to be performed live.

The reimbursement of travel expenses will be covered for up to 3 people for each winning work.

All those who have been selected, can participate at their own expense and exhibit their work live, reporting their presence at least 2 weeks before the Festival The place of performance will be supplied with audio-video equipment.

The winners will receive a notice two weeks before the beginning of the festival.

In respect of Nature all partecipants are requested to ship only the signed authorization with the DVD
and the rest via e-mail.
