Bill Gates Foundation Award for NGOs

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is currently seeking applications for its Access to Learning Award (ATLA). The Award is part of the Foundation’s Global Libraries initiative and honors institutions like public libraries  and similar organizations that provide communities, especially the poor and the disadvantaged in developing countries with free access to computers and the internet. Only organizations outside of the United States can apply. The Award will specially recognize those efforts which are innovative in providing the following key services to the needy people:

* Free public access to computers and the Internet.
* Public training to assist users in accessing online information that can help improve their lives.
* Technology training for library staff.
* Outreach to underserved communities.

Elegibility
If your NGO is involved in providing free access to computers and internet for the poor and vulnerable communities, they you can apply for this award. Some previous awardees include cases such as “helping farmers use technology to learn about crop prices and improved practices, teaching job seekers how to increase their technology skills and find employment over the Internet, and showing students how to use web-based resources in their coursework”

Award
The Award provides the winning organization with a cash amount of US $1 million. This amount is one-time prize and it can be used by the organization “towards furtherance of the charitable, educational, scientific, or literary purposes.”

    Bill gates has done tremendous work i would like to bring to your attention what your organization must know.

    I am the Executive Director of an NGO in Kenya i sent a proposal
    for the underpriviledged women and orphans based on education
    health malaria HIV FGM i have been trying to find out the right
    contact email address plus direct number of your london office plus
    washington.

    At this moment i sent all info to your email info@gatesfoundation.org.
    We received a letter saying we had a grant approved but we must send 2560usd which surprised me so we went searching and found out at the
    moment that there is no Dr Thomas Barnes and Ms Agnes Heinz working
    for Bill Gates.

    Kindly do me a favour send us the direct number of your washington executive director and london office plus all their direct numbers.

    We are proceeding this to the American Embassy in Kenya to check
    on this as we relied on this funding for ou programs in August 2010.

    Please send us the details as we vwant to bring it to the attention
    of the washington executive director and london executive director.

    We want to work with you and since we are all doing good humanitarian
    work it is extremely important for all concerned to be aware.
