International Contest Azores Combo Art Camp

The contest’s goal is to promote young people’s creativity through combining traditional techniques with contemporary innovation. The pieces created can be personal creations or reinterpretations of traditional wicker pieces.The present contest Azores Combo Art Camp is international and aims at modernizing and reinterpreting pieces made in wicker.

Eligibility

*Young people from 18 to 35 years old from anywhere in the world; art, architecture and design students/professionals or creatives in general.

Process

*The selected creatives will have the opportunity to develop their preliminary projects during an artist residency, with the help of craftsmen. There, they will be able to exchange knowledge, the goal being to create innovative pieces.

Selection

*A jury of 5 artists led by Josep Cerdá, chair professor of the Fine Arts Faculty of Barcelona, will review the applications.

*Authors of the selected projects will participate to the art residency that will take place in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, in the Azores, from November 20th to November 29th, 2010. There they will have the great opportunity to work with a craftsman that will guide and help them realize their project.

Expenses

*Travel, accommodation, food and art supplies will be entirely covered by MaLA Cooperativa Cultural.
