Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Scholarships

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom is the foundation for liberal politics in the Federal Republic of Germany. It aims to promote the goal of making the principle of freedom valid for the dignity of all people and in all areas of society, both in Germany and abroad.

The Scholarship Programme is open to foreign students and postgraduates at German universities if applicants qualify according to our scholarship requirements. All applicants are subject to a preliminary selection process under which the applicants’ qualifications are checked and the chance for a successful application is assessed carefully.

The grants are calculated according to the guidelines of the Foreign Office and need not be repaid. Funding is initially awarded for one year.

Eligibility

The minimum entry requirements are:
- an acceptance from a German university to a postgraduate course or a Ph.D. programme
- and the ability to communicate fluently in German, both orally and in written format.

Application Process

The application deadline is 15 May and 15 November each year. Succesful candidates will receive a written letter of acceptance no later than 15 July and 15 January
