Anglo-American University, founded in 1990, is the oldest private institution of higher education in the Czech Republic. It prides itself on providing a personalized, distinctive university education in English, stemming from best American and British academic traditions that form future leaders, citizens of the world and high profile individuals ready to get globally engaged in world matters.
Anglo-American University is divided into five schools: School of Business Administration, School of International Relations and Diplomacy, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Journalism and John H. Carey II. School of Law. They offer a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. Located in beautiful baroque palaces in Prague’s historic Malá Strana, Anglo-American University has become a center of academic excellence where students from all over the world come to pursue academic study in an environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, leadership, cooperation and respect for cultural and national diversity.
AAU prides itself on having a core international faculty trained at fine universities worldwide, including the Ivy League.

- B.A. in Central and East European Studies – planned from Fall 2011
- M.A. in International Relations & Diplomacy (also as a semi-distance form of study from Spring 2011)
- B.A. in Politics & Society
- B.A. in Humanities, Society & Culture
- M.A. in Public Policy

- B.A. in Journalism and Communications
- B.A. (Hons) in Comparative Business Law (diploma awarded by the University of Wales)

Merit – based Scholarship

Eligibility
Merit-based Scholarship GPA is calculated cumulatively since the beginning of the studies of the program at AAU.
Merit-based Scholarship is awarded to students who have taken at least 4 courses the previous semester at AAU. The dean may ease that condition to 3 courses.
Students who register for the next semester prior to the end of the current semester are assigned the tuition that does not yet reflect the Merit-based Scholarship. This is calculated after the grades are in. Eligible students that have already paid the tuition will be given either the financial refund or tuition credit for future studies depending on their choice.
Merit Based Scholarschips do not apply to MBA program.

3.7 – 3.79 40% off tuition
3.5 – 3.69 30% off tuition
3.4 – 3.49 20% off tuition
3.0 – 3.39
10% off tuition
UK Numerical GA Stipend
70 and higher 50% off tuition
67-69 40% off tuition
64-66 30% off tuition
62-63 20% off tuition
59-61 10% off tuition
Need Based Scholarship
Any Anglo-American University student in extraordinary economic hardship with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher or (for the BA Law program) 49,5+ in the U.K. grading system may apply for a Need Based Scholarship to cover part of his/her tuition. Simultaneously provided that the student has already completed at least 48 ECTS credits or 24 US credits at AAU or (for BA (Hons) in Comparative Business Law) 50 ECTS or 100 UK credits.
A special committee set up by a Provost will make the decision on the individual basis. Applications are due at the end of previous semester. Applications have to be submitted to the Student Services Center. The application has to explain the reasons and support them with facts (financial situation of the student), academic transcript has to be attached.
Roma Scholarship
Anglo-American University awards a yearly full scholarship to two Roma applicants that fulfill the admissions requirements. To keep the scholarship students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher or (for the BA Law program) 49,5+ in the U.K. grading system. These scholarships must be applied for during the admissions process.
Refugee Scholarship
Anglo-American University awards a yearly full scholarship to one applicant with refugee status in the Czech Republic that fulfills the admissions requirements. To keep the scholarship student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher or (for the BA Law program) 49,5+ in the U.K. grading system. This scholarship must be applied for during the admissions process.
Students with Physical Disabilities Scholarship
Anglo-American University is happy to offer a yearly full scholarship to one student with disabilities. To keep the scholarship student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher or (for the BA Law program) 49,5+ in the U.K. grading system. This scholarship must be applied for during the admissions process. Please be aware that the Anglo-American University campus is not wheelchair accessible.
Special Scholarships
Anglo-American University offers other special scholarships which are – following their approval at the President’s Collegium – announced at the ad hoc basis.
MBA Alumni Scholarships
MBA students are not eligible for any of the stipends above. Anglo-American University, however, offers annually 4 MBA stipends in the amount of 100 000 CZK to its alumni. Selection is based on the GPA solely. The scholarship must be applied for during the admissions process.
Journalism Scholarships
From 1 to 4 students will be awarded the Alan Levy Journalism Scholarship each year to encourage a longer-term commitment to the Lennon Wall website, after completion of the Reporting classes. If only one student is awarded the scholarship, this student gets all four courses, while two students would share the scholarship (two courses each). If four students are awarded the scholarship, each would be awarded one class. This scholarship will cover the tuition of the program’s core classes, and specifically: Reporting I, Reporting II, Intro to Mass Communications, Feature Writing, International Reporting.
