<p>The openings are part of the JRC&#8217;s <a target="_blank" title="JRC Enlargement &amp; integration action" href="http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/jrc/index.cfm?id=1720">Enlargement and Integration Action</a> (E&amp;IA), which aims to give scientific and technical support to countries on the road towards EU membership, New Member States and Associated Countries, in order to support the transfer of the EU legal framework to national legislations and to facilitate scientific and technical exchange.</p>
<p>The JRC has also proposed <a target="_blank" title="JRC Enlargement &amp; integration action: E&amp;IA Activities" href="http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/jrc/index.cfm?id=3080">32 activities</a> including specialised workshops, advanced training courses and small projects within its areas of competence. The workshops are set up to allow competent organisations to study the scientific and technical methods and techniques underpinning EU policy implementation. The activities are targeted at new Member States, Candidate Countries, Potential Candidate Countries, FP7 Associated Countries, and &#8211; on an ad-hoc basis &#8211; European Neighbourhood Policy Countries and Russia The activities also provide an opportunity for EU organisations to learn about the methods currently used in those countries and for both parties to discuss how the EU legislation should be implemented in the future.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Grantholder</strong></em></span></p>
<p>Grantholder contracts are aimed at developing training, career development and mobility opportunities for researchers throughout their careers. The JRC offers Grantholder contracts under the national employment law of the site where the JRC Institute is established to scientists embarking on doctoral studies, to those early on in their career and to those with experience.</p>

To qualify for secondment to the Commission a national expert must have at least three years of experience.</p>

<p>Following a total of five competition rounds spread over a period of three years, <a target="_blank" href="http://thinkaboutit.eu/">TH!NK ABOUT IT</a>, the EJC&#8217;s international blogging competition series, is taking it to the next level and will be revamped into a sustainable platform where selected reporters will cover timely international topics through multimedia reporting.</p>
<p>The selected reporters are asked to perform and showcase how to best report about the latest &#8220;hot topics&#8221; by using multimedia outlets such as photo, audio, video, data visualisation, infographics etc. These selected reporters will have a chance to represent the new project and report from various international conferences and events. <h3>Description</h3>
<p>In the context of the EU funded project “Improving Cooperation in South-East Europe by Actions for Strengthening the Regional Cooperation Council”, the Central European Initiative intends to create a dedicated organizational structure “Twinning Unit” based in Sarajevo next to the Regional Cooperation Council premises in order to support the implementation of the project activities.</p>
<p>The project is financed by the European Union through the Instrument of Pres-Accession Assistance – Regional Programme 2010 EuropeAid/131229/C/ACT/Multi and will last 24 months (December 2011 – November 2013).</p>
<p>The Project envisages an intense calendar of activities aiming at strengthening the RCC Secretariat: study tours to other international organisations, capacity-building seminars, stakeholder conferences as well as the introduction of innovative ICT tools, will be some of the initiatives foreseen by the CEI with the ultimate aim to promote the enhancement of regional cooperation between and among the countries of South-East Europe.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></span></p>
<p>I. Processing of communications/administration:</p>
<ul>
<li>Assisting the Project Manger and the Project Officer in all project activities;</li>
<li>Collecting and analysing information and data on the Project progress;</li>
<li>Supporting financial and narrative reporting according to the rules of IPA programme;</li>
<li>Carrying out translations in English and Serbo-Croatian (active and passive), taking and transcribing dictation, drafts correspondence;</li>
<li>Assisting in the preparation and editing of documents for official communications, presenting at meetings and conferences;</li>
<li>Arranging documents pertaining to missions (hotels, travels) and following up on missions with processing and filing of travel documents for reporting;</li>
<li>Providing general support to team members when travelling;</li>
<li>Assisting in general secretarial tasks;</li>
<li>Running errands as needed (post office, couriers, etc);</li>
<li>Any other duties as may be assigned.</li>
</ul>
<p>II. Meetings organisation:</p>
<ul>
<li>Assisting in meeting preparation including preparation and distribution of documents, correspondence with participants, registration of participants, minute-taking, etc.;</li>
<li>Consecutive interpretation and linguistic facilitation at meetings when required;</li>
<li>Preparing background material pertaining to meetings when needed;</li>
<li>Liaising with suppliers for services.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Eligibility</h3>
<p>Candidates with the following qualifications are eligible to apply:</p>
<ul>
<li>Previous experience of 1year of managing / administration of activity in the context of an international organization, RCC included, and/ or of an European Union funded project;</li>
<li>Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal;</li>
<li>Mother tongue or equivalent in Bosnian or Serbo-Croatian;</li>
<li>Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet);</li>
<li>A proven sense of organisation, initiative and responsibility;</li>
<li>Ability to carry out assigned duties with due diligence and under time pressure;</li>
<li>Ability to work in an international environment and to travel;</li>
<li>Good attitude for working in a team;</li>
<li>Good knowledge of the RCC and CEI structures and activities;</li>
<li>Good knowledge of EU policies and instruments towards the Western Balkan region;</li>
<li>Commitment to full time service for the entire duration of the action.</li>

<h3>Remuneration</h3>
<p>The position’s remuneration will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.</p>

<h3>Description</h3>
<p>In the context of the EU funded project “Improving Cooperation in South-East Europe by Actions for Strengthening the Regional Cooperation Council”, the Central European Initiative intends to create a dedicated organizational structure “Twinning Unit” based in Sarajevo next to the Regional Cooperation Council premises in order to support the implementation of the project activities.</p>
<p>The project is financed by the European Union through the Instrument of Pres-Accession Assistance – Regional Programme 2010 EuropeAid/131229/C/ACT/Multi and will last 24 months (December 2011 – November 2013).</p>
<p>The Project envisages an intense calendar of activities aiming at strengthening the RCC Secretariat: study tours to other international organisations, capacity-building seminars, stakeholder conferences as well as the introduction of innovative ICT tools, will be some of the initiatives foreseen by the CEI with the ultimate aim to promote the enhancement of regional cooperation between and among the countries of South-East Europe.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></span><br />
I. Project Activities implementation:</p>
<ul>
<li>Overall coordination of the project under the Project Manager guidance;</li>
<li>Day-to-day management of the project under the guidance of the Project Manager and the Technical Assistance Unit in Trieste;</li>
<li>Monitoring the advancement of the activities according to the project work plan;</li>
<li>Participation in project meetings and other meetings and conferences as appropriate.</li>
</ul>
<p>II. Processing of communication and administration:</p>
<ul>
<li>Carrying out translations in English, Bosnian or Serb-Croatian languages (active and passive);</li>
<li>Preparing and editing of documents for official communications and presentations at meetings and conferences;</li>
<li>Financial and narrative reporting on the activities performed by the Sarajevo Twinning Unit according to the rules of IPA programme;</li>
<li>Assisting the Project Manager in all activities foreseen by the action;</li>
<li>Collecting and analysing information and data on the progress of the action;</li>
<li>Any other duties as may be needed or assigned.</li>
</ul>
<p>III. Organisation of meetings / conferences:</p>
<ul>
<li>Meeting preparation including preparation and distribution of documents;</li>
<li>Correspondence with participants, registration of participants, minute-taking, etc.;</li>
<li>Preparing background material pertaining to meetings when needed;</li>
<li>Standing and faithful cooperation with CEI and RCC staff;</li>
<li>Liaising with relevant stakeholders of the action (in particular Regional Organisations, International Financial Institutions).</li>
</ul>
<h3>Eligibility</h3>
<p>Candidates with the following qualifications are eligible to apply:</p>
<ul>
<li>A University degree in fields connected to the project activities (international relations, political science, economics, law, etc.). Preferably Master’s Degree;</li>
<li>Previous experience of 3 years of managing / administration of cooperation activity in the context of an international organization, European Union funded projects, RCC included;</li>
<li>Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal;</li>
<li>Mother tongue or equivalent in Bosnian or Serbo-Croatian;</li>
<li>Other languages will be considered as an asset;</li>
<li>Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet);</li>
<li>A sense of organisation, initiative and responsibility;</li>
<li>Ability to carry out assigned duties with due diligence and under time pressure;</li>
<li>Ability to work in an international environment and to travel frequently;</li>
<li>Good attitude for working in a team;</li>
<li>Good knowledge of the CEI and RCC structures and activities;</li>
<li>Good knowledge of EU polices and instruments towards the Western Balkan region;</li>
<li>Commitment to full time service for the entire duration of the action.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Remuneration</h3>
<p>The position’s remuneration will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Provision of Contract:</strong></span></p>
<p>The successful candidate will be based in Sarajevo in an office in front of the RCC headquarters, on a full-time basis, for a period of 18 months plus three months of probation period.</p>

<h3>Description</h3>
<p><strong>The North-South Centre of the Council of Europe organises traineeships from three to six-month periods.</strong><br />
The North-South Centre, or the The European Centre for Global Interdependence and Solidarity, was established by the Council of Europe to encourage co-operation and solidarity between North and South and improve education and information on interdependence among the worlds inhabitants.</p>
<p>The North-South Centre has a two tasks:</p>
<ul>
<li>to provide a framework for European co-operation designed to heighten public awareness of global interdependence issues,</li>
<li>to promote policies of solidarity complying with the Council of Europes aims and principles &#8211; respect for human rights, democracy and social cohesion.</li>
</ul>
<p>The duties to which trainees are assigned include research, the preparation of activities, draft reports and the drafting of minutes. They may also be required to assist with current work.</p>
<h3>Remuneration</h3>
<p>Unfortunately, the <strong>North-South Centre does not offer remunerated traineeships</strong>. Costs of travel and accommodation, as well as living expenses, are the responsibility of trainees or their sponsoring institutions. The North-South Centre does however cover its trainees for medical and accident insurance during the traineeship period. Trainees are entitled to two days leave per month. The usual working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm.</p>
<h3>Eligibility</h3>
<ul>
<li>Nationals of one of the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.coe.int/aboutCoe/index.asp?page=47pays1europe&amp;l=en" target="_blank">Council of Europe&#8217;s member states</a> or Southern Countries with which the North-South Centre co-operates,</li>
<li>Persons who have completed their higher education or have successfully completed at least three years of university study (six semesters).</li>
<li>Trainees must have a very good knowledge of one of the Council of Europe&#8217;s official languages (English and French). A good knowledge of the other is desirable. Good drafting ability required.</li>
</ul>
<p>Trainees are selected by the Executive Director, in agreement with the Unit to which they are assigned.</p>
<h3>Application</h3>
