University of Vlora is a nationally recognized as one of the Albania’s main universities, public university offering 15,000 students opportunities to work directly on research projects with expert faculty who bring current knowledge right to the classroom. To support the needs of its students, research, and scholarship, the university is expanding its library resources, organizes scientific seminars promoting research and scholarship, and engages into original research and promotion of highly scholarly works.
The University of New York Tirana offers dual Bachelor degrees conferred by the State University of New York/Empire State College and Universtiy of New York Tirana. In collaboration with the Institut Universitaire Kurt Bösch in Sion, Switzerland offers a Master’s programme in Business Administration (MBA) leading again to a dual degree (IUKB and UNYT).

How to apply

UNYT admits all secondary (or higher) education graduates, whose level of English, critical, analytical and synthetical reasoning abilities enable them to embark on an academic programme. These desired qualities are assessed through an official TOEFL test and/or an institutional placement test accompanied with an interview and a rationale essay. Students demonstrating such a potential, whose level of English language command is not yet up to the required standards at entry stage, are referred to the appropriate ESL programme.

A complete application consists of the following documents:
1. A complete application form.
2. An official copy of High School diploma.
3. A certified copy of a birth certificate, ID or passport.
4. Six recent passport-size photographs.
5. A medical report indicating that a student is physically capable of pursuing academic studies or indicating special needs to be accommodated by UNYT.
6. Two letters of recommendation.
7. TOEFL test (? 530 on a paper-based or ? 195 on a computer-based TOEFL test) or the institutional diagnostic test.
8. A rationale essay outlining the reasons for which an applicant wants to pursue an academic programme at UNYT.
9. A deposit of 1300 €.

Five (5) Full-Fee Scholarships for Freshmen: Competitive scholarships for the top five students with a High School G.P.A. of ? 8.0 who score the highest scores on three exams administered at UNYT: English, Mathematics and Computer Usage (renewed annually upon maintenance of a cumulative G.P.A. of no less than 3.50).

One full-fee “Gramoz Pashko” Scholarship for Freshmen: Aimed at financing one student with a High School G.P.A. of ? 8.0 who intends to pursue a Bachelor’s in Economics or Finance and achieves the highest score in three exams administered at UNYT: English, Mathematics and Computer Usage (renewed annually upon maintenance of a cumulative G.P.A. of no less than 3.50).

Six (6) Half-Fee Scholarships for Freshmen: Competitive scholarships for students with a High School G.P.A. of ? 8.0/10 who score the 6th-12th highest scores on three exams administered at UNYT: English, Mathematics and Computer Usage (renewed annually upon maintenance of a cumulative G.P.A. of no less than 3.50).

Academic Distinction Grants: Grants covering 30% of the tuition fees for students with a High School G.P.A. between 9.5-10 studying for a UNYT degree (renewed annually upon maintenance of a cumulative G.P.A. of no less than 3.33).
Academic Merit Grants: Grants covering 20% of the tuition fees for students with a High School G.P.A. between 9.0-9.4 studying for a UNYT degree (renewed annually upon maintenance of a cumulative G.P.A. of no less than 3.00).
Academic Worth Grants: Grants covering 10% of the tuition fees for students with a High School G.P.A. between 8.0-8.9 studying for a UNYT degree (renewed annually upon maintenance of a cumulative G.P.A. of no less than 3.00).
One (1) Full-Fee “Ruben & Gramoz Pashko Award” offered by Balkan Resources Sh.p.k.: Offered annually to a UNYT student producing the best essay on Entrepreneurship, covering the student’s tuition fees of the following academic year.
One (1) “AGNA GROUP Award”: An award worth 5,000 $ offered in 2007 and 2008 to UNYT – SUNY/ESC’s Valedictorian student.
Two (2) “Ruben & Gramoz Pashko Grant” offered by Balkan Resources Sh.p.k.: Awards worth 1,000 € each, offered annually to the two UNYT students producing the second and third best essays on Entrepreneurship.
