Charles University(CU) in Prague is the oldest and largest university in the Czech Republic, and one of the oldest universities in Europe. Founded in April 7, 1348, by a Czech and Roman king Charles IV it was the first university in the Holy Roman Empire and in Central Europe in general. How to apply

Charles University faculties offers bachelor, master and doctoral study programs in English, but some degree programs are available in Czech language only. So, applicants who have a very good knowledge of Czech language are encouraged to study in Czech language. Each faculty maintains its own admissions office and specialized staff to meet the needs of their prospective students.

Masaryk University (MU) in Brno is the second largest university in the Czech Republic and the largest in Moravia, with 9 faculties of more than 200 departments, institutes and clinics. Czech Technical University (CTU) is one of the best universities of technology in the Czech Republic. Student Scholarships and Exchanges

CTU provides direct support through a small number of scholarships for foreign PhD and Masters students. This financial support is not intended for Erasmus students. The main financial support for visiting students is in the form of subsidised accommodation and canteens, very cheap public transport passes, and low tuition fees (fees are waived for students studying in Czech language and for Erasmus and Exchange students).

Scholarship

International students coming to Brno University of Technology for LPP/Erasmus placements are entitled to receive accommodation scholarship. An application for accommodation scholarship is submitted at the host faculty, signed and passed to the Mobility Programme Department at the Rector’s Office. The students will receive decision on granting an accommodation scholarship for the entire period of their stay at Brno University of Technology in the given calendar year. The respective amount will be given by Rector’s decision. The scholarship will be paid in the cash office at the Rector’s Office. On their arrival, international students coming for LLP/Erasmus placements will be offered a one-week course of Czech language, free of charge.

ERASMUS
If the student wishes to come to Ostrava as an Erasmus Student he/she has to check with the home institution Erasmus coordinator whether the home University has an Erasmus agreement with VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava and to obtain application materials. The first contact must be at the home University Erasmus office where students can obtain all the necessary information concerning – study in terms of the of Erasmus programme. All application documents must be sent to the coordinator of your receiving faculty at VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava and must be duly signed by the Erasmus coordinator (either Institutional or Departmental) at your home institution. The University of West Bohemia (UWB) is located in Pilsen, the largest city in West Bohemia and the fourth largest city in the Czech Republic. It was founded in 1991 and is made up of seven faculties. It is the only institution of higher education in West Bohemia which prepares students for careers in engineering (electrical and mechanical), science (computer science, applied mathematics, physics, mechanics), education (for both primary and secondary school teachers in a wide range of subjects), fine arts, economics, humanities (philosophy, sociology, foreign languages, social and cultural anthropology, archaeology), law and public administration. International Students

The International Office is the centralised university department responsible for international activities. International students can study at UWB either in the short period study stays (e.g. Erasmus) or  in the study programmes depending on their language abilities (Czech or English). The Palacký University (PU) in Olomouc is the second-oldest university  in the Czech Republic, established in 1573. František Palacký, whose name University bears, was the most influential Czech historian of the 19th century. Olomouc is one of the oldest cities in Moravia, the eastern part of the Czech Republic, and capital of the region of Central Moravia. These courses vary in the level and number of lessons per week and can be adjusted to individual student’s needs.

University has joined the Erasmus programme in 1997. At present we have bilateral agreements with more than 200 universities in most EU countries and the number of partner institutions. If you wish to come to Olomouc as an Erasmus Student check with your  home institution Erasmus coordinator  whether your University has an Erasmus agreement with Palacký University and to obtain application materials.

The language of instruction at Palacký University is Czech, however, the University offers a wide range of courses taught in other languages, such as English, German, French, Spanish, etc. In August students can attend  a four week intensive language course – the Summer School of Slavonic Studies. During the semester courses of Czech as a Foreign Language are offered at several levels. All courses are meeting for four lessons a week and bearing 4 ECTS credits. The Erasmus Mundus programme provides EU-funded scholarships for third country nationals participating in these Masters Courses, as well as scholarships for EU-nationals studying in third countries.

Euroculture
The aim of the Euroculture programme is to prepare graduates from Europe and third-countries for professions in which knowledge of present Europe and European Union institutions are of relevance. The focus of the programme is on cultural and social developments: its inheritance as well as its standards, values and citizenship. The programme teaches students the methods and skills required to identify the European dimensions of social problems, to collect and process relevant information of European institutions and organisations and to reflect on the cultural aspects and factors that play a role in the process of European identity formation and European integration. Erasmus Mundus Master in Adapted Physical Activity
The objective of the Erasmus Mundus Master in Adapted Physical Activity programme is to combine the competencies of a number of European universities in order to offer the students a comprehensive training and adequate knowledge in the many aspects of Adapted Physical Activity (APA). A partnership between the Erasmus Mundus Consortium (Olomouc, Oslo, Limerick and Leuven) and 3 third-country partner universities is established. The Master´s Programme in International Management is a full-time two-year academic training programme for students at bachelor level with interests and career intentions in international companies and international environment. The programme provides students with a business education in the main fields of economics, management, finance, marketing, cross-cultural communication and negotations. The Programme is organized by the Faculty of Business Administration and is fully run in English. An indispensible part of the studies is a semestr spent abroad at a CEMS partner university. International Business – Central European Business Realities is a two-year (four semesters) full-time Master’s Program taught in English. It provides students with a comprehensive business education in the main fields of economics, management, finance, marketing and negotiations. Students are offered the possibility to fulfill part of their study obligations at the University of Lyon Business &  Management School (France), or at the University of Applied Science in Mainz (Germany), or at Management Center Innsbruck (Austria), or at the International University Geneva (Switzerland), and to obtain graduate degrees (a double degree) from both the Czech and the host universities. Language Courses

The Erasmus Intensive Language Course – Czech Language is offered to all interested foreign students in the pre-semester period every academic year. Erasmus students enrolled at CULS for one or two semesters may also take advantage of several Czech language courses, which are credited with ECTS, e.g. :  Czech for Beginners A1, Czech for Beginners A2, Czech for Beginners B1 and Czech for Beginners B2. An introduction to Czech language and culture is also available for incoming Erasmus students during the orientation week.

Internships
The International Relations Offices at CULS Faculties and Institutes arrange individual internships for both incoming and outgoing students on request only. Internships are arranged in the framework of ERASMUS programme or on the basis of bilateral agreements (for overseas students).
