The University participates in more than half of the national Centres of Excellence in Research, elected by international scientific panels, thanks to the results produced by the research and teaching carried out at the University. The University has strong international connections. It has some 80 co-operation agreements with universities on different continents.</p></blockquote>
<h3>How to apply</h3>
<p>The University of Helsinki has one student intake per year. The regular application period is from November 16  to February 1 (16:15/4:15 p.m. GMT +2).<br />
Please note that the different application groups (e.g. the visiting student status, the International Master&#8217;s Programmes) might have other application closing dates. For detailed information see the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.helsinki.fi/admissions/materials/deadline_table.pdf" target="_blank">deadline table</a>.<br />
All undergraduate and graduate applicants <a target="_blank" href="https://admissions.it.helsinki.fi/uaf/pages/hy.jsp" target="_blank">register online</a> through the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.universityadmissions.fi/" target="_blank">University Admissions Finland&#8217;s (UAF)</a> applicant registration service. E-registration can be done during the application period only. UAF is a centralised admissions service, screening applications and documents for Finnish universities.<br />
When you have completed the applicant e-registration, you may print the application from directly from the UAF website or send to your mail box as a PDF file. Your registration is saved on the UAF database. The printed and signed paper application form (with all the requested documents) must be sent to the University Admissions Finland: see below.</p>

<p>As a rule, students who are applying for <a target="_blank" href="http://www.helsinki.fi/admissions/graduate_applicants.htm" target="_blank">Master&#8217;s level </a>(graduate) studies or <a target="_blank" href="http://www.helsinki.fi/admissions/postgraduate_applicants.htm" target="_blank">PhD</a> (postgraduate) studies do not participate in entrance examinations. They are accepted through direct admission: i.e. admission without the entrance examination. Direct admission is based on the content, scope and quality of the applicant&#8217;s previous degree and as well as on the resources of the department and/or major subject in question. Another area in focus is the applicant&#8217;s language proficiency.</p>

<p>International degree students may obtain state grants. You may receive student financial aid for your studies only if your residence in Finland can be considered permanent (residence code A or P) and your residence is based on some other status than that of a student. Immigrants returning to Finland and refugees are exempted from this regulation.<br />
<strong><br />
Exchange students</strong><br />
As a rule, exchange students (i.e. students who register for a limited period of studies through a certain exchange programme as well as through a bilateral or multilateral agreement) are awarded a grant on the basis of that programme or agreement. Erasmus and Nordplus grants are always awarded to students in their home country. Please contact the International Affairs or equivalent at your home institution or your own department for more information on grants and other benefits they may be offering.</p>
<p><strong>Visiting students</strong><br />
Visiting students who come to study at the University outside the exchange programmes or without any institutional or departmental agreements between their home institution and the Universtity of Helsinki, have to finance their studies themselves.</p>

<h3>Application</h3>
<p>University of Jyväskylä offers high-quality programmes conducted in  English. International students are welcome  to apply to degree programmes or as an exchange student through  existing exchange agreements.</p>
<p><strong>Bachelor&#8217;s programmes</strong><br />
All Bachelor’s programmes at the University of Jyväskylä are offered in Finnish language only. Applicants to Bachelor’s programmes should have a good command of Finnish. Should you be interested in applying, please contact the Head of Academic Affairs of the Faculty in question for more information on the application procedure and to find out what qualifications are needed<a target="_blank" href="http://www.elearners.com" target="_blank"></a> or from lesser known educational institutions will be accepted. Of course a lot of applicants will be coming straight from school and will hopefully have the grades required. <strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Masters&#8217; degree programmes</strong><br />
1. Check your qualifications at the web sites of the Master&#8217;s programmes.</p>
<p>2. Fill in the online application form. Register to the online application system and fill in the electronic Application Form.</p>
<p>3. Collect your application documents and send them via mail by the application deadline. The online application form will indicate the required application enclosures. The documents related to educational background and proof of language skills are normally required.</p>

<h3>Exchange studies</h3>
<p>You are studying in one of the partner universities of the JyU and wish to enrol as an Erasmus, Nordplus, ISEP, FIRST,  North-South-South or a bilateral exchange student.</p>
<p><strong>Admissions criteria</strong><br />
You can apply to the University of Jyväskylä (JyU) as an exchange student for one or two semesters in case your home university is a partner university of JyU. You should first apply through your home university to be nominated to <strong>Erasmus, Nordplus/Nordlys, ISEP, FIRST, North-South-South or bilateral exchange</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Application procedure</strong><br />
1. After your home university has nominated you to study at the University of Jyväskylä as an exchange student, please fill in the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.jyu.fi/en/study/forms/admission" target="_blank">online Application for Admission/Exchange Students</a>. There is no need to send a paper copy of the application.</p>

It is the second largest university in Finland and offers study and research opportunities in six faculties: Humanities, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Medicine, Law, Social Science and Education.. The university is a member of the Coimbra Group, a network of prestigious universities in Europe. Even though the main language of instruction is Finnish, each Faculty offers study opportunities in English to both non-degree and degree students.<br />
Total enrolment of students is about 18,000 and each year about 1,000 international students study at the university. Most of them participate in English-language programmes or at the doctoral level in research projects.</p></blockquote>
<h3>How to apply</h3>
<p>Students who have completed a high school or (upper) secondary school or equivalent may apply to the University of Turku as a first-cycle degree student. The Bachelor&#8217;s degree consists of 180 credits and takes about 3 years of full-time study to complete. The Bachelor&#8217;s degree usually consists of basic and intermediate study modules of a specific field as well as other required studies and also minor studies. After completion of the Bachelor&#8217;s degree, the student may continue in the advanced Master&#8217;s studies module of his/her chosen main subject without any separate application.</p>
<p>PLEASE NOTE: The University of Turku currently does not offer Bachelor&#8217;s degree studies in English. <p>Students may apply for the Master&#8217;s degree programmes by filling in a joint online application form at the University Admissions Finland web page. The call for applications for the programmes starting in autumn 2010 will open on 1 December or 4 January depending on the programme.<br />

<p>The University of Turku does not charge tuition fees. The university itself, however, cannot offer financial assistance or student-specific job opportunities. For the most part, all students, Finnish and international, are expected to finance their living costs by themselves.</p>
<p>Scholarship possibilities are announced in the spring semester at the end of March and the application deadline is at the end of April. Students participating in the Triple I programme coordinated by the University of Turku are entitled to EM ECW grant. The Triple I programme&#8217;s objective is to create multidisciplinary cooperation between Russian and European institutions. The programme and its grants are meant for Russian students applying for European institutions and for European students applying for Russian institutions. <p>The Fulbright Center awards grants to American graduate students, teachers, lecturers, and scholars to study, teach, or pursue research in Finland. <p>Unfortunately, the University cannot offer financial aid to international students. You must at all times be able to finance your studies and living expenses or have a scholarship from your home university or from other sources outside the University of Tampere. Only under certain bilateral agreements may the University of Tampere grant a scholarship to a student of a partner university.<br />
