ParisTech – the Paris Institute of Technology – is one of the collegiate universities in France. Its oldest college was founded in 1741. Nowadays, it gathers 11 of the best French engineering schools, covering nearly the whole spectrum of engineering science, and 1 business school. Scholarships and Admission

Each year, the ParisTech colleges assign a significant share of their funds to scholarships, thus releasing some students from all or part of the financial cost of their studies. The aim of the scholarships is to boost the colleges’ effort in favour of equal opportunities and the international recruitment of excellence. They have drawn up complete systems of financial aid in the form of:

• scholarships decided on merit or excellence
• scholarships based on social criteria,
• scholarships to favour mobility.

One of the two universities in the city of Rennes, France, the University of Rennes is a multidisciplinary institution offering academic qualifications in three main scientific areas: Science, Technology, Engineering and Health; Law, Politics, Economics, Management and Administration Science; Human Sciences (Philosophy and Communication). Paris-Sorbonne University was established as a separate institution in 1971, after the university reforms (Framework law drawn up by Edgar FAURE in 1968) were carried out and the University of Paris and its five faculties were split and then re-formed into thirteen interdisciplinary universities.
Before the university reforms took place, the premises of the Sorbonne were reserved for the Faculties of Arts and Human Sciences, but are now shared by the four newly established universities. These four universities have also dispersed their premises throughout Paris.

The true “successors” of the University of Paris have kept the Sorbonne name as part of their official title: Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV), the New Sorbonne (Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris III), which is located mainly in the Censier buildings, and the Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris I).
The Sorbonne premises also house part of the René Descartes University (Paris V) and the Chancellery (Education authority of Paris – rectorat de Paris).

How to apply

International students applying individually (not as part of the ERASMUS program or international agreements) to the Paris-Sorbonne University must take a French language exam or get a certificate (acknowledged by Paris-Sorbonne University) to confirm that they have passed a French language test. They also have to obtain a long-term visa. For application procedures international students should contact the Studies Division.

As a center for higher education and research, the University of Lyon consists of 16 institutions of higher education. The University of Lyon has three main universities and a number of member institutions. Foreign students make up more than 13% of the whole student community in Lyon. In 2005/2006, Lyon welcomed 16000 foreign students came to Lyon, 2500 of which were there via an exchange program.

The former University of Montpellier, originally located in Montpellier in the Languedoc-Roussillon région of the south of France is now divided into three universities: the University of Montpellier 1 , Montpellier 2 University and Paul Valéry University, Montpellier III.
