JOB OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT: PROGRAM ASSISTANT, EDUCATION USA EUROPE

POSITION TITLE: Program Assistant, EducationUSA Europe

LOCATION: The position is based in Budapest, Hungary at the Institute of International Education, European Office.

OPEN TO: All, EU residency is a plus.

SALARY: Full-time (35 hours per week) position offers competitive salary and benefits package. No housing or relocation expenses will be provided.

SCHEDULE: Start-date is tentatively set for February 15, 2009 but some flexibility is possible. The selected candidate will begin with a three month trial period.

Program Assistant, EducationUSA Europe
Reports to two Regional Educational Advising Coordinators (REAC)

Overview: EducationUSA is a global network of over 450 educational advising centers affiliated with the U.S. Department of State: www.educationUSA. state.gov. These centers provide unbiased information on post-secondary study opportunities in the
United States. The Regional Educational Advising Coordinators (REAC) for Europe are the individuals responsible for adviser training and the coordination of EducationUSA centers in the regions. The Program Assistant is an employee of the Institute of International Education (IIE) European Office, www.iie.eu. The Assistant plays an integral role in the coordination effort led by the REACs.

Specific duties:
- Edit a weekly U.S. higher education electronic newsletter;
- Manage grants to advisers and track financial reporting. This requires extensive e-mail communication with advisers and monitoring of information;
- Conduct online surveys of advisor activities, interests and needs;
- Maintain multiple databases of information collected on EducationUSA advising centers;
- Manage special training initiatives and projects.

Qualifications: Open to all nationalities; EU residency preferred.

Bachelor's degree, U.S. college/university degree is a plus. Must have native-level English language skills, other European languages is a plus. Familiarity with US higher education including experience with international education will be considered very favorably. The Program Assistant must be highly efficient in her/his use of technology, including spreadsheets and databases. The Assistant is responsive and introduces creative solutions for the effective coordination of EducationUSA. Other attributes include: attention to detail, advanced oral and written communication skills, desktop publishing experience and ability to follow through on projects. The
Assistant must be able to operate independently and effectively in direct cooperation with the REACs.
